everything happened so fast!
one minute i was driving happily enroute to roxas boulevard to drop off kat, the next minute a little girl on her bike suddenly crashed on my side of the car. and before i knew it, i hit her with the side mirror.
in my mind, i was saying "oh my God, oh my God! wasn't i driving carefully? did i kill her? is she ok?"
i got out of the car as fast as i can. the little girl was lying face down on the road.
i shrieked.
slowly, she started getting up. i helped her to her feet. i asked her a barrage of questions and started checking her head and her whole body for scratches, bumps, anything!
she said she is ok. and looking at her, it was as if nothing has happened. she got on her bike again and rode off.

so far, this rates as one of the scariest moments of my life.
driving away from the scene of the "crime" kat and i were speechless for at least 15 minutes. kat's mouth was even wide-open. my hands and feet kept shaking and i had to restart the car so many times because i couldn't drive properly after the incident. all i could say to break the silence was "ang scary diba?!" what a lousy retort!
after dropping off kat, i started thinking about the little girl again. it really shook me up. how easy it was to take one's life. so concentrated was i with my thoughts, that i didn't notice that i missed my turn. i even reached pasay because of my absent-mindedness.
boy, am i going to drive more slowly and carefully these days. i don't ever want this to happen again.
shucks... you have no idea how timely this is.. was practicing driving last sat and muntik din akong makasagasa :( i know exactly how you feel..
ReplyDeleteno matter how careful you drive it's also a matter of luck and skill. I is really shocking once you get into an accident. i say, good that no one got hurt =)

ReplyDeletewhen i was still learning how to drive, i almost hit a sorbetero. i wasn't paying attention to the road. bakit? dahil cute yung katabi kong driver ng kabilang car. i suddenly lurched to the right, and i tell you, biglang nagsigawan at nagtakbuhan sa iba't ibang direction yung mga batang bumibili. i've never seen children more terrified than them. aheheheheh.
ngayon, gate nalang namin nakasara ang nababangga ko. kala ko kasi, bukas na.
