the tale of the missing kumot

in our house, we don't exactly have our own beds. you can sleep at any bed as long as you are the first to occupy it for the night. same goes for blankets. you get to use the blanket that accompanies the bed that you are occupying.

so it came as a surprise to me to find myself missing a blanket last Tuesday night. i've searched under the bed, the guest rooms, and any possible place that it might gone, but there was no sign of it. anywhere! i decided to just use the blanket on the other bed since i figured, tin doesn't have much use for blankets anyway.

come thursday, tin was asking me for her blanket. i asked her if she had seen mine, negative. where could it be? i asked con and kat too. con's bed cover is different so she couldn't have taken mine since our blankets match the bed cover. me and kat have identical blankets since our bed covers match. that narrow's it down. i asked her again. she told me that she was using her own.

hmm, i couldn't really tell if she was lying because i didn't see her take my blanket and she really might be using her own. plus, i don't want another drama episode. i've had enough for this month.

even though i was sick and feeling real cold, i didn't tell my mom about the missing blanket. this could start another petty fight. i couldn't get an extra blanket since the cabinet where we keep them is locked and only my mom has access to the key.

i wanted to use my jacket, but being the OC person that i am, i wanted to keep the bed and my pillow clean from germs and other stuff. so to be able to sleep, i just curled up like a baby and tried to cover myself with pillows. to keep myself from freezing, i also dressed in a very big t-shirt, enormous enough to fit the whole me (with legs inside). and somehow it worked! haha.

by Saturday, i woke up hearing my mom's shrieks. apparently somebody leaked the missing kumot issue. oh man, here we go again. kat told her all about it, but instead of saying that i had been missing my blanket, she told our mom that it was her kumot that was missing since monday.

my mom had 2 hunches...
...since we have a new member in the household, she was the automatic suspect. i mean, what would we do with the blanket? but, she doubts that ate marissa would take something like this.
...somebody (from our family) must have committed something so embarrassing that he/she hid the evidence.

both hunches were far-fetched. after much thinking, my mom asked kat what she normally does during the morning after waking up. kat replied that she arranges her bed and folds her blanket (with demonstration) and places it on top of her pillows. mom leaves our room. after a couple of minutes, we hear her screaming "Katrina! Katrina! Halika nga rito..."

Lo and behold! the missing kumot is under the pillow.

----------
what is the point of my story? sometimes i get too frustrated with my mom, for dwelling so much on petty issues. i didn't realize how blessed i am. i mean, somebody takes care of even the minutest things for me. i should be thankful i have her in my life.

thanks mom! i love you! Ü
