Youthpower Disaster
Last friday, i convinced my bestfriend to join me in attending this youth conference at the World Trade Center. It was supposed to gather thousands of youth from all over the Philippines. The event highlights plenary sessions that will talk about the Valueof Education, Leadership, Community Development, ICT and DigitalOpportunities, Politics and Governance, Entrepreneurship, Career inMedia. Also in the conference are different academic tilt that includeinterpretative song and dance competitions, essay writing contest, modern-cultural dance Fest, debate and barkada challenge. Sounds spectacular right? unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. Curse those promo people! oh they were good! they convinced us to go all the way to WTC to listen to crap.
man, cathy and i laughed all through the morning! at least we were entertained. i couldn't help criticizing the speakers. poor grammar and pronounciation of words! not to mention that almost everything they said were nonsense! (ang yabang ko!) our stomachs couldn't handle it. by 11am, we rushed to the bathrooms to pass gas. we must've been the noisiest gals around. we were to ashamed to go back so we went out through the back door. what a waste of P30 parking!
not wanting to go home and be the ever productive couch potatoes that we are (we are both currently taking our much needed "vacation"), we headed to robinson's manila to window shop and watch a movie. we watched "shall we dance" featuring the full-bottomed jennifer lopez and the dashing richard gere. i cried a lot. not that its a sad movie. it just reminded me of some bad experience that happened a long, long time ago. uyy, moments! but generally, it was a great movie. i'm even inspired to really pursue those dancing lessons that i've been meaning to take. (now, where do i get the moolah? wonder if i'll get a hunk as a partner...hmmm.)
after dragging ourselves into every store which screamed "SALE!" in bold and after having a long talk on the unmentionable experience at McDo while slurping on Oreo-flavored McFlurrys, we decided to hang out at Starbucks Taft...for a change. we were running out of cash. good thing Cathy had her credit card (care of her Mommy dearest) to save us from hunger. we had a lot of time to catch-up on things...from prep up to the present.
i guess it wasn't such a disaster after all. Ü
